Presentation 4 - Making Your Home Friendly for the Vision Impaired
Please join us for all four presentations.
- February 23 Presentation 1: Low Vision - What it is and what can be done. Learn about the common types of low vision: macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma and more. We will discuss what can be done and what questions to ask your doctor. The presentation will include a chance to "see" what the world looks like when you have low vision.
- March 30 Presentation 2: Reading better with vision impairment using devices. Learn how to use devices you already own to read better. Bring your iPad, smartphone, laptop, etc and learn how to use applications already installed on your device. We will be focusing on free and low cost apps that are readily available. This will be an interactive presentation.
- April 27 Presentation 3: Eating out with low vision. Eating out can be frustration when you have low vision. We will discuss what questions to ask your server, techniques for navigating the place setting and how to know where everything is on your plate.
- May 25 Presentation 4: Making your home friendly for the vision impaired. Learn how to make your home easier to navigate for the vision impaired. We will cover lighting and contrast issues and tips for helping your loved ones be comfortable in your home.
All four presentations will be held at the Steilacoom Community Center at 11:15 - 11:45. Lunch for Senior Citizens will be served directly after. For more information see the Steilacoom Adult Programs.
